IOM's Role in Japan

  • To strengthen cooperation with Japan in support of displaced people and migrants world-wide
    Japan supports following activities of IOM:
    • Humanitarian and reconstruction assistance in Iraq
    • IDP assistance in Timor Leste
    • South Asia Earthquake response in Pakistan
    • IDP assistance in Sudan
    • Response to the December 2004 earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia and Sri Lanka ,etc.
  • To assist Japan in meeting migration challenges
  • Voluntary return and reintegration assistance to the victims of trafficking found in Japan
  • To promote international cooperation on migration issues
  • To provide migration services for migrants
